Scholar Coordinator Volunteer

Volunteer as a Scholars Program coordinator to help future leaders of the profession. 

The Scholar Coordinator position is intended for professionals working in the supply chain industry.  Interested students may apply to be a scholar here.

Scholar coordinators  will aid in organizing scholar activities at ASCM 2020.  In addition to receiving generous benefits for their service, coordinators help make the conference possible through their hard work and dedication as volunteers. 

Scholar coordinators will receive complimentary conference registration and lodging. Coordinators will be expected to arrive one day before the ASCM conference begins and assist through the close of the event.

The ideal coordinator will meet the following criteria:


  • Have attended one or more APICS/ASCM conferences (past student scholars highly encouraged to apply!)
  • Have held leadership roles, either professionally or within their volunteerism
  • Have an extended network of professional colleagues
  • Have experience with community outreach
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Have strong communication skills with all age groups
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Current ASCM member
  • Must be available for the duration of the program which runs midday Saturday, September 12 through midday Tuesday, September 15, 2020.

Pre-conference duties may include:


  • Assist with fundraising by talking about the benefits of the program with potential donors, using social media
  • Encourage students to apply to the program
  • Assist with the selection of scholarship recipients
  • Assist ASCM staff with planning and activity brainstorming
  • Encourage professional network to mentor students at conference
  • Participate in pre-conference webinar for the scholar recipients
  • Monitor online student community

On-site duties may include:


  • Assist with check-in of scholars
  • Assist with Scholar Welcome reception and any ice breaker/team building events that this may include
  • Assist with scholar/mentor introductions
  • Oversee mentor contact with scholars to help ensure a meaningful experience
  • Introduce scholars to your own professional network on site
  • Ensure the scholars are present at all mandatory events
  • Assist with on-site operations of the overall program as needed
  • Promote program via conference hashtags

Post-conference duties:


  • Participate in one follow-up conference call to review survey results from scholars, mentors, and fellow coordinators
  • Brainstorm ways to continue to enhance the program
  • Post-conference webinar

Holiday Availability

In observation of the Thanksgiving holiday, ASCM will be closed starting at 2 pm CST on Wednesday, November 25. ASCM will reopen on Monday, November 30, for normal business hours.
