Mentor Program

As a mentor, you will be assigned an individual scholar to work with during APICS 2014. This is a great opportunity to share your knowledge and experiences with a young professional in the field and to help your APICS scholar build a network with other students and professionals.

The goal of the APICS Mentor Program is to help build networks, gain industry knowledge, forge lasting relationships and better understand the value of APICS membership. The professional experiences of APICS mentors are what makes this possible.

Benefits for APICS mentors:

  • Meet the best and brightest supply chain management students in the nation.

  • Build long-term relationships and expand your personal network.

  • Give back to the APICS community in a meaningful way and help shape the next generation of APICS leaders and volunteers.

  • Earn 2 certification maintenance points.

  • Gain access to preferential seating at general sessions.

APICS preconference duties:

  • Be aware of mentoring program goals, expectations and schedules.

  • Contact the student before the conference and develop a good understanding of the student's interests, background and goals.

APICS conference duties:

  • Plan to arrive early at the conference and participate in the New Member Welcome and Volunteer Recognition receptions.

  • Spend at least an hour per day with your student outside of program-sponsored events.

  • Assist the student in making networking connections.

APICS postconference duties:

  • Complete the provided survey of your mentoring experience.

  • Maintain an ongoing relationship with your student and assist with career aspirations and goals.

Academic Program

The APICS 2014 Academic Program, taking place throughout the conference, enables academics and practitioners to work together to further supply chain and operations management. It’s an opportunity to share your expertise, empower fellow supply chain and operations management professionals and academics, and contribute to the success of individuals and organizations.

The APICS Supply Chain Council seeks academic presenters who can examine, assess and educate on key topics using the APICS body of knowledge and provide participants with strategies for success in the increasingly global economy. We also seek presentations that can bridge the gap between the practitioner and the arena, and within the following educational tracks:

  • Risk and Resiliency: Sessions in this learning path will enable you to enrich the customer experience by clearly describing how to prepare for unanticipated events caused by nature, accident, political conflict or other types of disruption.

  • Supply Chain Business Analytics: Sessions in this learning path involve specific tactics for effectively transforming data into usable business-, process- and customer-focused strategies and solutions.

  • Sustainability: Investigate how to enhance the customer experience, increase satisfaction, and ensure loyalty via advanced procurement strategies, ethical processes, end-to-end environmental impact assessment and the capability to shift beyond compliance to performance improvement.
