The Fresh Connection
Supply Chain Management Competition

About the Game
The Fresh Connection is a Web-based role-playing simulation game developed by experts at Involvation, a supply chain management consulting firm. Each team of four operations management professionals will be challenged to collaborate and employ supply chain management expertise to help save a virtual fruit juice manufacturer from its downfall and develop it into a successful company.

How it works
A six week competition where the advanced simulation software calculates the consequences of the strategic and tactical decisions the team makes. The goal is to make the highest return on investment during the competition. You will also have an opportunity to see how your team measures up against the other teams in this interactive event focused on real-world implementation of best practices.

Why should you join the competition?
The Fresh Connection is an engaging and interactive platform that will further enhance your team-building and e-collaboration skills.

During the competition, each participant will enhance supply chain management, S&OP, and joint decision making skills and be able to immediately apply the experience to their daily work.

An extensive evaluation report will be issued to each team and its members. The report enables teams to pinpoint their development opportunities. It also benchmarks the team against other competing teams.

What will your role be?
Collaborate with your colleagues to create your own Operations Management team of four.

Each player will play a specific role of a

  • Vice-President of Purchasing who is responsible for the choice of suppliers and supplier agreements
  • Vice-President of Operations who concentrates on the organization of manufacturing and warehousing
  • Vice-President of Sales who decides on customer service, order priorities, and promotional activities
  • Vice-President of Supply Chain who is responsible for supply chain strategy and control decisions.

How to win the game?
The team that makes the highest return on investment during the competition will win. This can only be done by investing solely in what really matters and making the right supply chain choices.

The winning team is not tempted by suboptimal choices and always works as a team. It manages the risks in the supply chain, so that SCM provides the foundation for a healthy yield. The team concentrates on strategic and tactical decisions and exploits KPIs as a management instrument. The team focuses not only on competition, but also on cooperation!

“The Fresh Connection stimulates active partnership throughout the chain. Every week the consequences of sub optimization become visible. Imagine the insight if every supply chain manager would have this in real life...!"
