APICS Honors Ingersoll Rand, Cox Communications for
Performance Excellence in Supply Chain & Operations Management

ORLANDO (September 30, 2013) – Ingersoll Rand and Cox Communications were honored today at the APICS 2013 conference in Orlando, FL, with APICS Corporate Awards of Excellence for their contributions and performance excellence in the field of supply chain and operations management.

The 2013 APICS Award of Excellence in Education recognizes Ingersoll Rand for its development of an education and certification process for materials managers and key employees. The initiative ensures all team members share the same high competency level in materials management and the APICS body of knowledge. As a result of this education initiative, Ingersoll Rand improved inventory turns, delivery performance, and customer satisfaction. Ingersoll Rand also leveraged APICS learning to create a new standardized organizational design and updated job descriptions with defined roles and responsibilities. As a result of this initiative, Ingersoll Rand achieved annualized savings of $5.5 million.

The 2013 APICS Award of Excellence in Innovation honors Cox Communications Supply Chain for its supply chain transformation initiative. Recognizing the preeminence of the supply chain in its operations, Cox gained executive support for a broad supply chain transformation effort, seen as particularly important to Cox’s ability to gain increased visibility into its U.S. operations. Cox developed a supply chain blueprint that that specified a number of actions to enact improvements. As a result of this initiative, Cox was able to meet its in-year budget reduction targets through a combination of labor efficiency, warehouse space savings, asset reduction, inventory management improvements, and productivity increases.

“The commitment to excellence exhibited by these companies demonstrates the value they place on the supply chain and the employees that contribute to the success within their organizations," said APICS Chief Executive Officer, Abe Eshkenazi, CSCP, CPA, CAE. “APICS is proud to acknowledge their achievements with these awards.”

The Corporate Awards of Excellence winners were introduced at the APICS 2013 annual conference in Orlando. Past winners include Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, Unilever, Pfizer, DuPont and Hewlett-Packard Brasil Ltda.
