Supply Chain and Operations Management Professionals
Gear Up for APICS 2013 Conference in Orlando

CHICAGO (September 27, 2013) – Supply chain and operations management professionals from around the world will convene September 29-October 1 at one of the industry’s largest events, the APICS 2013 annual conference in Orlando.

APICS 2013 brings together attendees from more than 40 countries to gain relevant education, industry best practices, and thought leadership. It is hosted by APICS and the APICS Foundation.  APICS is the world’s leading association for supply chain and operations management and the APICS Foundation is its research and innovation arm.

“Supply chain and operations management professionals are expected to achieve maximum productivity,” said Robin Russell, CFPIM, CSCP, president of the APICS Foundation and professor at Virginia Tech. “To be successful, they need to understand how to leverage their customers as strategic assets, and APICS 2013 will provide the thought leadership to ensure they achieve their goals.”

Thought leaders Jeremy Gutsche, founder of Trendhunter.com, and Tom Rath, bestselling author of StrengthsFinder 2.0 and Strengths-Based Leadership, will present about innovation and leadership.

With an emphasis on quality education sessions, the conference offers eight learning paths: business analytics; collaboration; innovation and advancement; operational efficiency; professional development; responsiveness; risk and resiliency; and sustainability. Speakers include senior professionals, educators and consultants from some of the world’s most respected colleges and universities and organizations, such as Intel, Philips, and Coca-Cola.

APICS 2013 attendees will see best practices in action, at onsite plant tours  including Orlando International Airport, FedEx Ground, Mitsubishi Power Systems, Darden, Lockheed Martin, Mercury Marine and Nautique boats.

Other noteworthy events include the International Student Case Competition powered by the Fresh Connection, where teams will collaborate in a virtual supply chain environment; APICS Student Career Fair, where students have access to job recruiters and interviews with companies that are hiring; and the APICS World Café, where participants can discover more about the benefits and challenges of diversity initiatives. In addition, the APICS Expo features more than 40 leading organizations. The conference is sponsored by Oracle and PwC.

“From big data to developing better collaborative relationships, APICS 2013 attendees will learn cutting-edge approaches to creating more sustainable, resilient, strategic, and value-driven supply chains,” said APICS CEO Abe Eshkenazi, CSCP, CPA, CAE.
