Chicago, Ill. (June 22, 2010)—After an extensive search, the APICS International Conference & Expo, presented by APICS The Association for Operations Management, will move to the Wynn Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, October 18–20, 2010. The conference is the largest annual gathering of operations and supply chain management professionals from across the globe.
The original conference venue, the Gaylord Opryland Resort, in Nashville, Tennessee, has canceled all events for the next six months due to water damage resulting from the recent storms and flooding.
Additionally, APICS announced its general session speakers who offer diverse perspectives on operating in a changing global marketplace. On Monday, October 18, LT. General Russel L. Honoré will share thoughts on leadership in an uncertain time. General Honoré—currently being tapped as a resource in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill clean up—was widely hailed by the media as the “Category 5 General” when he led Task Force Katrina in the aftermath of the devastating hurricanes that struck the Gulf Coast in the summer of 2005.
On Tuesday, October 19, Bert Jacobs, co-founder and chief executive optimist of The Life is good Company will share insights with attendees into how consumer word of mouth and corporate reputation builds and sustains profitable organizations.
“Our primary goal for APICS 2010 is providing the highest quality and most relevant education possible—wherever the conference is held,” said APICS CEO Abe Eshkenazi, CSCP, CPA, CAE. “We look forward to bringing the APICS International Conference & Expo to Las Vegas and are confident that the excellent educational content and speakers, especially Bert Jacobs and Lt. General Russel L. Honoré, will exceed attendees’ expectations.”
“Las Vegas is an easy-to-access location for the 2010 APICS International Conference & Expo,” said 2010 International Conference chair Lisa Ross. “The Wynn Las Vegas offers world-class meeting space and five-star accommodations at an attractive rate for APICS 2010 attendees.”
The conference educational program is designed to provide best practices for global supply chain and operations management. Conference attendees will gain education and information to help them navigate the significant and permanent changes to their careers, their organizations, and the global economy in the wake of the recent recession—the New Normal.
