Chicago, Ill. (November 11, 2010) – APICS The Association for Operations Management, the global leader in operations and supply chain management education, certification, and membership, today announced its honorees for three prestigious service awards—the Voluntary Service Award, the Student Voluntary Service Award, and the Student Chapter Mentor Award—awards that recognize individuals for outstanding volunteer work supporting APICS, its chapters, and student chapters. Honorees were recognized at the 2010 APICS International Conference & Expo, October 17 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of professional associations like APICS,” said APICS CEO Abe Eshkenazi, CSCP, CPA, CAE. “APICS and the operations and supply chain management profession depend on the contributions of outstanding volunteers like the 2010 Service Award honorees.”

The prestigious APICS Voluntary Service Award is presented annually to an APICS member who demonstrates superior leadership, achievements, and contributions to the association in areas that include APICS chapter committees and certification programs. APICS Voluntary Service Award honorees, such as Maryanne Ross, CFPIM, CIRM, CSCP, demonstrate pride in volunteering and helping others through dedication to their profession.

Additionally, the APICS Student Voluntary Award was presented to Thomas R. Harland, an operations management student at Carroll University, who has shown commitment to APICS and his chosen profession.

Bowling Green State University’s Karen L. Williams received the 2010 APICS Student Chapter Mentor Award, which honors an operations management professional who has positively affected the lives of students and shown a commitment to the APICS vision.
