Chicago, Ill. (November 8, 2010) – APICS The Association for Operations Management, the global leader in supply chain and operations management certification, education, and membership, announced the winners of the prestigious APICS Corporate Awards of Excellence today. Awards were presented for educational excellence and innovation in the new normal. They recognize leadership and innovation among the global corporate community.
The awards were presented to Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems and Dispensary of Hope at the 2010 APICS International Conference & Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, October 19.
“We are pleased to honor the achievements and commitment to excellence, innovation, and education of these organizations,” said APICS chief executive officer Abe Eshkenazi, CSCP, CPA, CAE. “Northrop Grumman and Dispensary of Hope set an example for others in the profession to follow.”
The 2010 Education Award of Excellence winner, Northrop Grumman, encourages its employees to pursue APICS certification and helps employees earn the APICS CPIM designation within twenty months. Northrop Grumman used APICS education to enable an SAP implementation and also extended the APICS body of knowledge into other areas of the business to achieve positive results.
The 2010 Innovation in the New Normal Award winner, Dispensary of Hope, provides underinsured communities with sustained access to prescription medication. To address increased demand for assistance resulting from the recession, Dispensary of Hope developed an innovative and lean instant access program that gathers unused, unexpired sample medications from thousands of physicians across the country, organizes them at a central distribution center, and ships the medication to Dispensary sites across the nation.
