APICS Certification Maintenance Program

You have worked hard to achieve certification. Keeping your certification up-to-date and active shows your dedication to your career in operations and supply chain management and helps boost your standing within your organization and the industry.

Below you will find maintenance requirements and procedures to help guide you through the process. 

  • Certification maintenance requirements

CPIM

  • Must earn a total of 75 professional development points every five years.
  • If you do not maintain your certification within five years, your certification will be placed in suspended status. You will be unable to refer to yourself as a CPIM until your certification is placed back in good standing.
  • With each additional year your certification is suspended, you are required to submit 15 additional professional development points to reinstate your certification.
  • If you do not maintain certification within five years of suspension, your certification will expire, and you will be required to retake your exams. You will be unable to refer to yourself as a CPIM until your certification is placed back in good standing

CFPIM

  • Must earn a total of 100 professional development points every five years.
  • If you do not maintain your certification within five years, your certification will be placed in suspended status. You will be unable to refer to yourself as a CFPIM until your certification is placed back in good standing.
  • If you do not maintain certification within five years of suspension, your certification will expire, and you will be required to reapply. You will be unable to refer to yourself as a CFPIM until your certification is placed back in good standing.

CSCP

  • Must earn a total of 75 professional development points every five years.
  • If you do not maintain your certification within five years, your certification will be placed in suspended status. You will be unable to refer to yourself as a CSCP until your certification is placed back in good standing.
  • With each additional year your certification is suspended, you are required to submit 15 additional professional development points to reinstate your certification.
  • If you do not maintain certification within five years of suspension, your certification will expire, and you will be required to retake your exam. You will be unable to refer to yourself as a CSCP until your certification is placed back in good standing.
A publicly available online certification verification tool is offered on the APICS website to provide prospective employers and other stakeholders with a simple, easy way to verify an individual’s certification status.  Candidates who require verification of their own credentials for personal use can view a detailed report through My APICS Certifications.
  • Maintain your certification in 5 easy steps

Maintaining your certification is easy, and you can submit your maintenance application at any point during your maintenance cycle.

  1. Log in to your APICS account
  2. Access the online maintenance application (the application is accessible beginning 30 days after you initially obtain certification)
  3. Choose the designation you need to maintain
  4. Fill in the number of points you have earned in each category
  5. Pay the fee and submit the application

APICS performs random audits of certification maintenance applications. The Maintenance Audit Guidelines document will assist you with understanding audit documentation requirements.

CPIM Exam Simulator

APICS Conferences, Seminars and Workshops

Earn professional development points for attending APICS supply chain/operations management events and conferences.

Online APICS Events

Access online webinars and webcasts on supply chain/operations management topics and earn 1 point per educational hour.

APICS Membership

Earn 6 points per year of APICS membership. APICS members also receive discounted pricing on conferences, workshops, products, services and have access to member-only webinars.
