APICS History

Then   Now
In 1957, twenty production control managers meet in Cleveland to form the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS).   Today, APICS membership has grown to nearly 40,000 members and countless professionals who rely on the opportunities for career development and networking APICS provides.

  In 2011, APICS has members in more than 200 countries around the world.
APICS officially becomes an international association in 1961, chartering the Hamilton, Ontario, Canada chapter.

In 1963, the first APICS Dictionary is published.
  The APICS Dictionary is in its thirteenth edition and has become the standard of the industry for terms and definitions.
The APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) designation launches in 1973.

In 1991, The APICS Certification in Resource Management (CIRM) enters the marketplace. 

The APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) designation launches in 2006.
