E-Commerce Supply Chain Challenges in 2018: Navigating the Paradox of Going Both Local and Global

Ecommerce is revolutionizing retail. It represents one of the fastest growing areas of the economy and has disrupted many major players in its wake. It is creating opportunities for non-traditional retailers to engage with consumers and bring their products to market around the world. Ecommerce is also revolutionizing the supply chain. The need for speed and convenience has created massive innovation in procurement, warehousing and fulfillment, network design, and final mile distribution. This session focuses on the ecommerce opportunity in the U.S. and around the world and the evolving needs of ecommerce consumers and the logistical challenges they present. It looks at going local: removing distance from the last mile and driving towards a new ecommerce experience. It also looks at going global: creating new markets and strategies to delight international consumers. Finally, the session takes a look at some of the strategic initiatives and innovation at DHL.
