A New Tight Delivery Schedule for Walmart Suppliers

  • APICS staff

Walmart is tightening up policies on its suppliers, dictating that late deliveries to warehouses will receive a fine, Fox Business reports.

The previous late-delivery policy was that large suppliers needed to deliver complete orders within one-to-two days 75 percent of the time or incur a 3 percent fine on the cost of the delayed delivery. However, the updated policy will see that delivery threshold increase to 85 percent for large suppliers and increase to 50 percent (from 33 percent) for smaller suppliers.

"This is not a 'Hey, let's see how unreasonable we can be,'" said Steve Bratspies, chief merchandising officer for Wal-Mart U.S., in an interview with Fox Business. "We need the product that the customer wants when they want it."
