APICS Launches SCOR 12.0

November/December 2017

APICS is releasing an updated version of the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) framework. Version 12.0 includes updates to the framework, courseware and exam. New training materials for the updated framework were released on November 1, and candidates can schedule their Version 12.0 exams starting January 8, 2018. The SCOR framework will continue to be free to members.

A committee of international supply chain practitioner experts made initial recommendations for updates to maturity models, best practices and terminology. These suggestions were validated by a SCOR job task analysis survey completed by more than 1,600 supply chain professionals. Both the committee and supply chain professionals see an increasing importance in

  • sourcing and procurement processes for the SCOR framework
  • metadata, digitization, omnichannel and the supply chain maturity model
  • data analytics, data acquisition, data science and predictive analysis as staff skills related to organizational supply chain initiatives
  • continuing education and improvement of supply chain manager skills and abilities.

SCOR 12.0 further defines how SCOR interacts with other frameworks, including the Management for Supply Chain framework. This year’s updates are heavily influenced by industry trends in advanced analytics, semantic supply chain and integrated business planning.

In preparation for the SCOR 12.0 launch, APICS also introduced an APICS for Business platform with a variety of new products that support corporations in their journeys toward supply chain excellence. Visit the APICS for Business website at apics.org/apics-for-business to learn more.
