Recognition Celebrates Continuing Education and Innovation Projects Across the Supply Chain
LAS VEGAS – October 6, 2015 – Today at APICS 2015, Carlisle Interconnect Technologies (CarlisleIT) and American Woodmark Corporation were recognized with this year’s APICS Corporate Awards of Excellence for their commitment to continuing education and innovation in supply chain.
The APICS Award of Excellence in Education is designed to recognize an organization’s commitment to advancement based on the application of APICS educational concepts, competencies, and best practices. CarlisleIT is being recognized for implementing an employee development program based on the APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management program. Using APICS CPIM as a cornerstone, CarlisleIT developed a system to encourage recruitment, promotion, and retention of its supply chain team members. As a result, the company has been able to assess, improve, and sustain the growth and development of the people in its supply chain.
Designed to recognize an organization's achievement in developing strategies to overcome challenges in the changing industry landscape, the APICS Award of Excellence in Innovation recognizes American Woodmark Corporation for the successful implementation of a radio frequency identification (RFID) system to improve inventory control. Across the span of four years, American Woodmark implemented RFID systems across seven of its supply chain facilities to improve inventory accuracy and enhance visibility across the manufacturing process.
“By focusing on continuing education, training and certification programs, both CarlisleIT and American Woodmark illustrate that there is a direct correlation between exceptional supply chain performance and talent development,” said Abe Eshkenazi, CSCP, CPA, CAE, APICS CEO. “Both organizations have demonstrated leadership and a commitment to the industry by providing tools and techniques for the professional development of supply chain professionals.”
