APICS Honors Exemplary Professionals with its 2017 Individual Awards of Excellence

APICS 2017 Awards of Excellence recognize four exceptional supply chain leaders

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Oct. 15, 2017– Today APICS, the association for supply chain management, honored four standout supply chain professionals as winners of the 2017 APICS Awards of Excellence in the inaugural Individual category. This year’s winners are Sabine Simeon-Aissaoui, Stephen Bernard, Samer Majdi Al-Madhoun, and Michael Morand, who were recognized for each of their dedication to advancing the field of supply chain management. Awards were presented at APICS 2017, the organization’s flagship supply chain management conference, held this week in San Antonio, Texas.

“We are proud to recognize the 2017 Award of Excellence honorees for their lasting contributions to their organizations and the supply chain field,” said APICS CEO Abe Eshkenazi, CSCP, CPA, CAE. “These individuals exemplify the core values of innovation, continuous learning and social responsibility that APICS strives to advance.”

The honorees were recognized in four categories:

Supply Chain Leader: Sabine Simeon-Aissaoui, Head of Supply Chain – Europe, Schindler Group

This award honors extraordinary team and organizational leadership, dedicated support and mentorship of fellow professionals and lasting contributions that advance the supply chain industry at large. Simeon-Aissaoui earned this award for spearheading the “Transform to Outperform” initiative, a major international supply chain transformation that gained a cost leadership position for Schindler Group by improving the company’s operational performance.

Diversity and Inclusion Champion: Samer Majdi Al-Madhoun, CSCP, CLTD, SCOR-P, MUHAKAT Institute and Trax Consulting

This award honors exceptional commitment to diversity and inclusion and inspiring people of all profiles and backgrounds to succeed in supply chain careers. Al-Madhoun has worked tirelessly to raise awareness of supply chain careers among young professionals around the world. His belief in empowering women and promoting gender equality in the supply chain field led him to launch an initiative called the “Jordan’s Women in Supply Chain” campaign and to provide free professional development through the EMDAD “Arabic for Supply Chain” initiative.

Corporate Social Responsibility Catalyst: Stephen Bernard, Senior Sustainability Manager - Supply Chain, AT&T Inc.

This award honors consistent integration of corporate social responsibility into business processes and reduction of environmental impact throughout the supply chain. Bernard has championed social responsibility and sustainability in supply chain for over 12 years. Among other initiatives, he was instrumental in the development and implementation of AT&T’s supply chain strategic sustainability goals for 2015, 2017, 2020 and 2025.

Emerging Supply Chain Leader: Michael Morand, CFPIM, CSCP, CLTD, Senior Manager, Distribution Operations & Capabilities, Johnson & Johnson

This award honors a visionary young professional who has already made significant contributions to the supply chain management profession and demonstrates strong potential to become an outstanding leader in the field. During his time in the US military, Morand was responsible for directing the movement of nearly 8,000 personnel and 5,000 tons of equipment to 19 countries. Today he leads enterprise-level initiatives for Johnson & Johnson.

A panel of judges selected the APICS Awards of Excellence winners. This panel based its evaluations on the applicants’ achievements, dedication and positive influence. In addition to their recognition at APICS 2017, the winners will be featured in a 2018 issue of APICS magazine.
