International Supply Chain Professionals Assemble for APICS 2017

 

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – October 10, 2017 – APICS 2017, the premier event for supply chain, logistics and operations management professionals, will take place October 15 – 17 in San Antonio, Texas. Professionals from all aspects of the industry will explore forward-thinking topics covering end-to-end supply chain, logistics, and operations management across multiple learning paths inspired by the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model: Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, Return, and  Enable. Approximately 2,000 attendees will participate in 60+ educational sessions, 12 facility tours, two keynotes, and countless networking opportunities to accelerate their careers and elevate supply chain innovation.

John Mackey, Co-Founder & CEO of Whole Foods Market

John Mackey has led Whole Foods Market to a $14 billion Fortune 500 company with more than 410 stores and 88,000 team members in three countries. Mackey has been recognized as one of Fortune’s “World’s 50 Greatest Leaders,” Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year Overall Winner for the United States,” Institutional Investor’s “Best CEO in America,” Barron’s “World’s Best CEO,” MarketWatch’s “CEO of the Year,” Fortune’s “Businessperson of the Year,” and Esquire’s “Most Inspiring CEO.” A strong believer in free market principles, Mackey co-founded the Conscious Capitalism Movement and co-authored a New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling book entitled Conscious Capitalism: Liberating the Heroic Spirit of Business (Harvard Business Review Press 2013) to boldly defend and reimagine capitalism, and encourage a way of doing business that is grounded in ethical consciousness.

Derreck Kayongo, Founder of the Global Soap Project and CEO of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights

Derreck Kayongo and his family fled a civil war in Uganda and settled in the U.S. when Kayongo was just ten years old. Now a successful entrepreneur, Kayongo is a renowned expert in environmental sustainability and global health. Kayongo is the founder of the Global Soap Project: a program which takes donated, melted, purified and reprocessed hotel soap and redistributes it to vulnerable populations around the world. In creating this global humanitarian initiative, Kayongo has demonstrated that a simple, yet novel idea has the power to transform the lives of millions. Recognized as a CNN Hero, Kayongo’s passion for helping others and commitment to innovative thinking earned him his current role as CEO of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. Kayongo believes in the spirit of entrepreneurialism and creative problem-solving, and inspires audiences to dream big as he shares his vision for harnessing the power of observation to identify issues and solve challenges in any community or organization.

 

Women in Supply Chain Forum

APICS 2017 attendees can be an essential part of APICS’s efforts to attract, promote, and retain women in supply chain by joining the inaugural Women in Supply Chain Forum, held Tuesday, October 17 in conjunction with the main conference. Supply chain and diversity trailblazers will share insights regarding the new faces of supply chain leadership and the future of the field. Plus, participants in this special gathering will have the opportunity to network with one another and discuss opportunities and challenges.
