Organizations recognized at APICS 2016 for exceptional work in education and innovation within supply chain industry
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sept. 26, 2016 – Today, APICS, the premier professional association for supply chain management, announced that two organizations, Johnson & Johnson and Keysight Technologies, were honored as this year’s winners of the prestigious APICS Corporate Awards of Excellence. The companies were recognized for their leadership and dedication within the field of supply chain management. Awards were presented at APICS 2016, the flagship supply chain management conference, in Washington, D.C.

The 2016 APICS Corporate Award of Excellence in Education, which recognizes organizations that are committed to advancement based on the applications of educational concepts from the APICS body of knowledge, was awarded to Johnson & Johnson. The organization was recognized for the successful transformation of its lean education program using the APICS body of knowledge. The Johnson & Johnson lean program, which focuses on tailoring educational sessions to the needs of individual teams and employees, was specifically called out as an outstanding example of continuous improvement in the field of supply chain education. Michael Morand, Operations Manager, Franklin Distribution Center, accepted the award on behalf of the Johnson & Johnson Customer and Logistics Services team.
The 2016 APICS Corporate Award of Excellence in Innovation, which recognizes organizations that have successfully developed strategies to overcome challenges within the changing supply chain industry, was awarded to Keysight Technologies. The organization was recognized for successfully transforming its supply chain following its spinoff from Agilent Technologies in 2014. Keysight Technologies developed a lean taskforce to identify strengths and weaknesses within the supply chain and to improve overall operations. As a result, the organization saved more than $20 million during FY 2015. Shidah Ahmad, Vice President and General Manager of order fulfillment and supply chain, accepted the award at the presentation in Washington, DC.
The APICS Corporate Awards of Excellence winners were chosen by a panel of judges who based their evaluations on applicants’ supply chain strategies, impact, and business results. In addition to their recognition at APICS 2016, the winners will be featured in a 2017 issue of APICS Magazine.
