Supply Chain and Logistics Network
APICS has joined forces with AST&L, the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC), and the Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) to raise awareness of the services offered in a variety of industries, academia, and the government.
Manufacturing Institute collaboration
Beginning in October 2011, APICS was added to the Manufacturing Institute’s Transportation, Distribution and Logistics (TDL) career pathway in manufacturing. The pathway includes stackable credentials from APICS and the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC), and AST&L.
This collaboration will raise the profile of APICS, APICS certifications, and the supply chain and operations management professions across the US.
As a part of this collaboration, APICS is a part of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM)-Endorsed Manufacturing Skills Certification System, the flagship education initiative of the manufacturing sector.
The Skills Certification System is being used to integrate nationally portable, industry-recognized credentials – their learning standards and content – into high school, community college, and university programs of study to build the nation’s technical workforce. Initial partners in the Manufacturing Skills Certification system include ACT, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the American Welding Society, the National Institute for Metalworking Skills, and the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council, and comprise foundational academic, workplace, and technical skills for entry-level jobs across all sectors of the manufacturing economy.
