American Society of Transportation and Logistics (AST&L) Dual Membership

Effective January 1, 2009, APICS is pleased to announce that all APICS student members will enjoy dual membership with the American Society of Transportation and Logistics (AST&L).

Through AST&L, all current APICS student members will benefit from

• Opportunities to apply for a blanket waiver for the designation Certification in Transportation Logistics (CTL).
• Eligibility to enroll in the L.L. Waters Scholarship Program, offering an award of $2,000 to be used exclusively for tuition/books or direct college expenses.
• Cost-saving discounts to joint meetings and cosponsored events.
• Access to the most current information in the transportation logistics field found in the Transportation Journal.
• Immediate access to a worldwide network of transportation and logistics practitioners and educators.
• Educational and networking opportunities through local chapters and affiliate organizations.  
• Use of the members-only directory to contact other AST&L members.

How to Receive Your AST&L Benefits
Current APICS student members will receive their new member benefit information directly from AST&L by February 1, 2009.  Newly joined APICS student members will receive their benefit information from AST&L within a month of joining APICS.

How to Apply for the Certification in Transportation Logistics (CTL) Blanket Waiver
AST&L’s blanket waiver program enables the transportation, logistics, and supply chain programs of an institution of higher learning to be examined and approved as meeting the standards of the AST&L professional certification program. Recent graduates of those institutions’ programs can receive the CTL without further examinations or the creative component. Students must apply within six months of graduation and must be a student member of AST&L. The number of schools in the blanket waiver program continues to grow as there are many fine academic institutions that qualify for the blanket waiver and they and their educators have fine reputations in the field.
