APICS Launches Supply Chain Contest
As APICS members know firsthand, the APICS body of knowledge makes a world of difference in the productivity of organizations around the globe. Now APICS members are applying their expertise to help those who need it the most.

APICS has developed a partnership with America’s Second Harvest–The Nation’s Food Bank Network to help feed our country’s neediest families by building a supply chain against hunger.

The APICS Supply Chain Contest, in conjunction with the APICS 50th Anniversary, demonstrates the impact APICS education makes throughout the supply chain and in our communities.

APICS members will receive their official Supply Chain Contest packet in the mail in the coming weeks. The packet includes a colored wristband that represents a potential link in your region’s supply chain against hunger.

Everyone who makes a monetary donation will be entered in a grand prize drawing for a Magellan Maestro 4040 Global Positioning System, having a retail value of $499.99 (US) that will be presented to the winner at the 2007 APICS International Conference & Expo.

Region supply chains will be unfurled at APICS 2007, and the region with the longest supply chain against hunger will be named the winner.

Here’s how to participate in the APICS Supply Chain Contest. When you receive your packet in the mail:

  • Write your name, company, e-mail address, and message on the wristband. The message can be anything including a memorable APICS moment, such as why you joined APICS or how APICS has helped your career.
  • Increase your chance of winning by referring five colleagues who you think will benefit from being an APICS member. For every colleague you refer, you can submit a wristband with your information on it.
Visit www.apics.org/supplychaincontest for more information and to enter the names of your five colleagues.
  • Send your wristband and at least a $1 donation to your local chapter by October 8. There are 13 million hungry children in our country. The more you can give, the more children we can help.
  • Wristbands and donations collected by your chapter will be recorded and then forwarded to your region representatives where the wristbands will be used as links in your region’s chain. Donations will be contributed to a local America's Second Harvest Network food bank.

For more information or to request a packet, go to www.apics.org/supplychaincontest and read the Supply Chain Contest FAQs.
