Research

The primary purpose of the E&R Foundation is to foster education and development in the field of resource management. By building working relationships between industry practitioners and academicians, the foundation is able to promote applied research on significant real-world industry issues. Subjects include supply chain management, curriculum development, information management, performance benchmarks, and process improvement throughout organizations and are addressed through a range of research vehicles. This interaction and exchange of ideas and information lead to new models, applications, theories, and processes, all of which benefit the resource management industry and continually add to the APICS body of knowledge.

Grant Guidelines

Note: The E & R Foundation is not currently accepting applications for grants.

The E&R Foundation seeks to define and expand the APICS body of knowledge to achieve excellence in resource management. The primary customers for the grant products are APICS members, practitioners and academicians, and CPIM and CIRM candidates.

To meet this goal of enhancing the APICS body of knowledge, the foundation awards grants to researchers developing innovative ideas for industry improvement including enhancing existing products and services. The foundation supports

  • research monographs
  • case studies
  • training materials
  • workshop development
  • educational games or software
  • journal articles
  • conference proceedings.

Again, at this time the E & R Foundation is not currently accepting applications for grants.

Resources for Corporate Partnerships
The foundation's research is not just for academicians-the foundation frequently partners with corporations for practical research. An organization can also find a researcher through the foundation to partner with on a specific resource management topic. The organization gets the information before the publication of the paper and not only benefits itself, but contributes to the expansion of the APICS body of knowledge. In addition, the organization adds to its authority within the industry when the foundation publishes the study.
