APICS ANNOUNCES NEW EDITOR OF THE INFLUENTIAL PRODUCTION AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT JOURNAL
Vincent A. Mabert Named Editor
Alexandria, Va. (April 4, 2008)—The APICS Educational and Research (E&R) Foundation announced today that Vincent A. Mabert, Ph.D., The John & Esther Reese Professor at Indiana University, has been named the editor of the Production and Inventory Management Journal. Mabert holds a doctoral degree in production and operations management from the Ohio State University. He was the chairman of both the Operations Management Department at Indiana University and the Indiana Manufacturing Excellence Roundtable and has written numerous articles for industry magazines.
The APICS E&R Foundation president, Rhonda Lummus, Ph.D., CFPIM, CIRM, CSCP, and executive director, Bob Collins, CFPIM, CIRM, CSCP, and Robert Vokurka, Ph.D., CFPIM, CIRM, CSCP, chair of the APICS Board of Directors, are proud to have Mabert on the journal staff. Collins noted that Mabert is a thought leader who will bring a wealth of experience to the journal. “We are very fortunate to have Dr. Mabert join us as editor of the Production and Inventory Management Journal,” said Collins. “His background and knowledge will not only benefit the publication, but will also provide unique insight to all of our readers.”
The Production and Inventory Management Journal, a publication that has influenced the operations profession for decades, will experience revitalization under the direction of Mabert. The updated journal will help business leaders, students, and academicians understand and manage the ever-changing and complex interrelationships of designing and operating processes in manufacturing and service-oriented enterprises in today’s global marketplace. The journal will be published during the fourth quarter of 2008 and then quarterly in 2009.
