APICS Announces First Class of Certified Supply Chain Professionals

Alexandria, VA (June 8, 2006) APICS The Association for Operations Management today announced that 508 operations and supply chain professionals have been awarded the first APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) designation. The recently launched APICS CSCP program develops supply chain leaders who create and execute supply chain strategies that align with corporate strategy and at the same time meets customer needs, reduces costs, and increases profits.

“Customers in today’s complex global marketplace expect high quality, low prices, fast turnaround, and on-time delivery”, said APICS President, Nicholas M. Testa, CFPIM, CIRM. “ APICS CSCP provides operations and supply chain professionals with the skills necessary to meet these demands and manage the integration and coordination of activities within increasingly intricate supply chains that ultimately enable an organization’s success in today’s complex global marketplace.”

The APICS CSCP program employs a broad approach, extending beyond internal operations to encompass the entire supply chain—from the supplier, through the company, to the end consumer. Individuals learn to design a successful supply chain strategy; effectively manage supplier and customer relationships; recognize how logistics, technology, and data can enhance performance; and discover how to seamlessly incorporate all processes to increase customer satisfaction and improve the organization’s bottom line.
