APICS SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH FORTUNE MAGAZINE
TO CROSS-PROMOTE SPECIAL ADVERTISING FEATURES

Operations management leader teams up with publishing legend
to provide relevant content to APICS members

Alexandria, VA (November 3, 2005) APICS The Association for Operations Management announced today that it has entered into an agreement with the Custom Projects division of FORTUNE Magazine to promote special advertising features focused on subject areas that are at the heart of the APICS body of knowledge.

“We’re very pleased to be working with FORTUNE Magazine in a way that will benefit both organizations,” said Karen Wynn Freeman, APICS deputy executive director. “APICS will be cited in the special sections as a primary source of information on these subject areas, thereby receiving exposure to the nearly four million readers of FORTUNE Magazine in North America. FORTUNE will benefit from reaching a targeted audience of more than 45,000 APICS members—managers in the manufacturing and service sectors who make the decisions on which business runs.”

The special advertising sections will focus on radio frequency identification, supply chain management, and transportation logistics, and will be produced by the Custom Projects division of FORTUNE and published in the magazine in 2006. APICS will promote the special advertising sections to its members by providing links on its Web site to digital versions of the sections, as well as e-mailing its members with information and links to the sections. In addition, all attendees of the 2006 APICS International Conference and Exposition, to be held in October in Orlando, will receive a copy of each special section.

“We consider this a win for everyone involved, in particular our readers, who will be receiving useful information on these topics about which APICS is the authority, and our advertisers, who will gain exposure to APICS’ members who are expert and certified practitioners of the technologies and processes we’ll be covering,” said PJ Boatwright, vice president of Custom Projects at FORTUNE.
