APICS Recognizes Volunteer Leadership at
2005 APICS International Conference and Exposition

Kansas City, MO (October 16, 2005) APICS The Association for Operations Management of Alexandria, Virginia, presented service awards to APICS members for their volunteer work supporting APICS, its chapters, and student chapters at the 2005 APICS International Conference and Exposition here today.

Eric Schaudt, CPIM, of Lake Zurich, Illinois, is the recipient of the Voluntary Service Award for his hard work and dedication to APICS, holding APICS Chicago Chapter offices, currently serving on the APICS Board of Directors as APICS Region 13 vice president, and teaching APICS educational courses. Schaudt served two terms as Chicago Chapter president and is presently the chapter treasurer and Webmaster. He led the chapter’s transition from being managed by a third-party firm to a volunteer-supported organization, creating a virtual environment by implementing a Web-based management system.

Gustavo Marco Antonio Ugarte Irizarri, CPIM, of Mexico City, Mexico, the recipient of the APICS Student Chapter Mentor Award, currently serves at the vice president of student chapters for the APICS Mexico City Chapter. As a teaching assistant and master’s degree candidate, Ugarte encourages students to participate in the CPIM program and learn the APICS body of knowledge. He worked with Monterrey Tech and the Campus Estado de Mexico to make Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) courses available, making the Instituto Tecnologico Y De Estudios Superiors De Monterrey (ITESM) system the first university to have such a program available for engineering majors in Latin America.

Deborah Cripps of Guelph, Ontario, is the recipient of the Student Voluntary Service Award for her contributions serving as vice president of education and most recently as president of the Conestoga College APICS Student Chapter. She has been an active member of the APICS Ontario Grand Valley (OGV) Board of Directors, reporting on the student chapter activities. She facilitated the OGV professional development meeting that is hosted by the student chapter. She recently accepted the office of OGV director of finance. Cripps has been actively involved with the Guelph Food Bank for 17 years and the Franklin Graham Operation Christmas Child program.
