National Association of Manufacturers’ President to Speak at APICS 2005
Alexandria, VA (March 22, 2005) APICS The Association for Operations Management announces John Engler, president and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and former Michigan governor will join Mike Ditka and Ken Schmidt as a general session speaker for the 2005 APICS International Conference and Exposition, October 16-18, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Engler will speak about the importance of manufacturing in the United States, the challenges facing the industry, and NAM’s vision for the future. He will address the factors that threaten to jeopardize the future of the U.S. manufacturing industry and are creating a shortage of talent. With a clear understanding and assessment of the current state of the industry, Engler will discuss the actions needed to be taken by all companies to overcome these challenges and strengthen the industry. Engler will also discuss the far-reaching implications these problems pose to the well-being of the U.S. economy and national security.
In addition to the general session speakers, also appearing will be featured speakers Norman Bodek, president of PCS Press and author of Kaikaku: The Power and Magic of Lean, and Gary Maxwell, senior vice president, merchandise and replenishment, U.S. Wal-Mart Stores Division.
