2003 APICS International Conference & Exposition Attendees to Gather in Las Vegas to Transform Challenges into Opportunities


Alexandria, VA (June 2, 2003) Attendees of the 2003 APICS International Conference and Exposition will gather in Las Vegas, Nevada, October 6-9, for the four-day event, Transform Challenges into Opportunities, hosted by APICS—The Educational Society for Resource Management. World-class featured speakers; networking opportunities with top industry executives; strategies and solutions to maximize company profits; and the exposition with leading suppliers of software systems, services, and information technology highlight the premier inventory and supply chain management program.

"Outstanding speakers will present their real-world experiences, focusing on how-tos for improving operations, profits, and customer satisfaction," said Karen Alber, CFPIM, 2003 Conference Committee chair.

This year's featured speakers are Lawrence J. Ellison, chairman and CEO, Oracle Corporation; Pat Croce, co-owner, Philadelphia 76ers; Barry Gibbons, former Burger King CEO; Mark Baker, senior vice president for operations, Steelcase, Inc.; Anthony S. Nieves, general manager and senior vice president, purchasing and supply management, Hilton Hotels Corporation; and Afterburners, top military fighter pilots. In addition, there are more than 100 educational sessions that will address lean strategies, operations and inventory management, personal and professional development, process improvement, procurement, project management, small business issues, and supply chain management and systems.

Other conference highlights include

  • Lean and Agile Manufacturing Simulation Model, an interactive workshop that demonstrates lean principles and their application.
