Educational Tools and Resources

Alexandria, Va. (June 23, 2003) APICS—The Educational Society for Resource Management, and Oracle Corp. (NASDAQ: ORCL), the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced a global alliance to provide inventory and supply chain management education and resource solutions to APICS members and Oracle's customers and partners.

As part of the alliance, the APICS Dictionary, the industry standard for inventory and supply chain terms and definitions, will be accessible to Oracle's customers via the Oracle Portal Catalog.

Additionally, APICS and Oracle will co-sponsor a series of Webcasts and events featuring leading supply chain management executives and thought leaders across the globe to discuss industry trends, challenges and best practices. The first event, titled "Business Beyond Boundaries: Challenges for the Global Supply Chain," will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at the Oracle AppsWorld conference in London.

According to APICS President Bob Collins, CFPIM, CIRM, "By combining Oracle's supply chain software expertise with APICS' superior education and supply chain management resources, we have created a powerful relationship that leverages our combined strengths to develop tools and resources for meeting today's business challenges."

"Considering the vital role of supply chains in helping businesses reduce operating costs, improve customer satisfaction and manage corporate risk, it's critical for companies to have access to reliable information regarding the latest regulatory issues, technology trends and challenges affecting the market," said Jonathan Colehower, vice president of Supply Chain Management at Oracle. "By integrating APICS' valuable content and resources with the portal functionality in Oracle9i Application Server, we are providing the tools necessary for improving workforce expertise and knowledge."
