FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

APICS Premiers Interactive Supply Chain Management Event at 2003 International Conference and Exposition

Alexandria, VA (March 7, 2003) APICS—The Educational Society for Resource Management is premiering an interactive educational event, "Supply Chain Management: An Interactive Experience," at the 2003 APICS International Conference and Exposition, October 6-9, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

During the six sessions, conference attendees will be introduced to the five principles that govern the success of a company's supply chain network in a real-world learning experience where participants will understand through group interaction and collaboration the roles of buyers, sellers, investors, and executives and the consequences of their business decisions.

"The value of this educational experience is bringing practitioners and their management together to experience firsthand how supply chain decisions affect customers, shareholders, trading partners, suppliers, employees, and competitors," said William T. Walker, CFPIM, CIRM, event developer. "It moves everyone's perspective from 'how am I successful within the four walls of my company?' to 'how can I be successful when I'm dependent on other trading partners outside my four walls?,'" explains Walker.

"Management wants to learn all they can about managing inventory and capacity investment risk; executives want to avoid any disruption to their international supply chain networks. These conference sessions will provide tools for the manufacturing, logistics, and distribution functions of the supply chains with a focus on the importance of integration and communication in light of global competition," said Walker.
