APICS Volunteers Receive Service Awards at
2003 APICS International Conference and Exposition

Las Vegas, NV (October 7, 2003) Two members of the APICS volunteer community received service awards in recognition of their contributions to APICS and its chapters and student chapters, demonstrating outstanding leadership and community service at the 2003 APICS International Conference and Exposition here today.

APICS—The Educational Society for Resource Management, a professional society located in Alexandria, Virginia, presented the Student Voluntary Service Award and the Student Chapter Mentor Award to individuals associated with Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning.

Tracey Lopers, CPIM, CIRM, of Waterloo, Ontario, is the recipient of the Student Chapter Mentor Award for her support and contributions to the APICS Student Chapter at Conestoga College, while serving as its liaison to the APICS Ontario Grand Valley (OGV) Chapter. In addition to being a full-time teacher in the college's materials management program, Lopers supports the students by helping them find employment in their field, arranging plant tours, and providing networking opportunities with OGV chapter members. Her dedication to teaching carries over to APICS educational opportunities, conducting review classes for students preparing for the Basics of Supply Chain Management certification exam.

The recipient of the Student Voluntary Service Award, Jaymie Berry of Cambridge, Ontario, has served the Conestoga College Student Chapter as director and vice president of finance and vice president of programs and arrangements. Berry was instrumental in creating budgets and the financial reporting system for the student chapter, organizing plant tours, planning fundraising events, and mentoring first and second year students. In addition to APICS activities, Berry is the Greater Wellington District of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada's representative for Conestoga College and is active in the Central Ontario Development Riding Program and the Children's Wish Foundation.
