Academicians Share Romey Everdell Award Presented at 2003 APICS International Conference and Exposition
Las Vegas, NV (October 7, 2003) The recipients of the Romey Everdell Award that recognizes the most outstanding contribution to the highly respected Production and Inventory Management Journal (P&IMJ) published by APICS—The Educational Society for Resource Management were honored here today at the 2003 APICS International Conference and Exposition.
Authors Rhonda R. Lummus, Ph.D., CFPIM, CIRM, and Robert J. Vokurka, Ph.D., CFPIM, CIRM, were recognized for their article, "Making the Right e-Fulfillment Decision," which appeared in the first/second quarter 2002 issue of the peer-reviewed journal. "An e-fulfillment strategy that includes an operations plan for the traditional delivery processes and uses the Web interaction for the customer processes is critical for successful e-commerce. A company must look at where it is today, determine whether the current fulfillment process provides the necessary performance and flexibility, and whether the customer is satisfied. The company must fill orders efficiently and provide the service the online customer demands," according to Lummus and Vokurka.
