FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Are you being paid what you're worth?
APICS Releases 2002 Salary Survey of
Resource Management Professionals

Alexandria, VA (October 28, 2002) Are you being paid what you're worth? Are your employees paid too much, or too little? Whether you are an employer or an employee, in order stay competitive you need to know what companies are paying for similar positions in your area and be able to benchmark your company's compensation package to similar companies in the resource management field.

APICS—The Educational Society for Resource Management has just released its 2002 Salary Survey of Resource Management Professionals. The survey covers annual salary and total compensation for 30 positions from buyer/planner to materials management director/manager to warehouse manager in the United States and Canada. The report also features demographic information by age, gender, experience, education, certification, company size, tenure in position, people supervised, geographic location, and industry.

"The APICS Salary Survey is an invaluable resource used by corporate executives to design their salary administration plan," stated Jeffry W. Raynes, CAE, APICS executive director and chief operating officer. "The salary survey also provides individuals with the data they need to advance their earning power."

The 2002 APICS Salary Survey revealed that of the 30 positions surveyed, supply chain directors/managers were the highest paid, with an average annual salary of $104,456 in the United States and CD$110,360 in Canada. In the United States, those in operations/shop scheduler (dispatcher) positions had the lowest average annual salary at $43,696.

APICS certification clearly had a significant influence on average salary. Respondents with Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and/or Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM) averaged higher salaries in all but four of the 30 positions. The exceptions were customer relations manager, master scheduling manager, materials handling supervisor, and operations financial analyst.

The APICS 2002 Salary Survey of Resource Management Professionals is available on CD-ROM for $59.95 for APICS members and $74.95 for nonmembers. To order, call APICS Customer Support at (800) 444-APICS (2742) or (703) 354-8851 and ask for stock #01637.
