APICS Magazine and Editors Win
APEX Publication Awards
Alexandria, VA (July 12, 2002) APICS—The Performance Advantage magazine, published by APICS-The Educational Society for Resources Management, received two awards for excellence in the APEX 2002 competition for writers, editors, publications department staffs, and business communicators. The APEX awards competition, managed by Communications Concepts, Inc., Springfield, Virginia, is in its 14th year recognizing outstanding publications from throughout the United States.
The February 2002 issue of APICS—The Performance Advantage was honored in the Magazines and Journals-Printed Four-Color category. Editor Douglas R. Kelly and Managing Editor Amy M. Azzam were named on the award in the category in which there were 819 entries. Kelly was also honored in the Feature Writing category for his "No More Empty Cupboards" article that appeared in the July 2001 issue. The winning article about the inventory control and security benefits of automated dispensing units in the maintenance, repair, and operating supply area was one of 938 entries.
"The APEX awards are based on publication and communication excellence. With nearly 6,000 competition entries, it is indeed an honor for APICS and its magazine editors to be recognized for their outstanding work and professionalism in communications," said Jeffry Raynes, CAE, APICS executive director and chief operating officer.
