About APICS The Association for Operations Management
APICS The Association for Operations Management is the global leader and premier source of the body of knowledge in operations management, including production, inventory, supply chain, materials management, purchasing, and logistics. Since 1957, individuals and companies have relied on APICS for its superior training, internationally recognized certifications, comprehensive resources, and worldwide network of accomplished industry professionals.
APICS has a tradition of passionate, involved volunteers and the 21-member board of directors is comprised of those dedicated volunteers that drive the strategic direction of APICS. Additionally, APICS has more than 240 chapters throughout North America and more than 50 international representatives around the world who offer convenient and personalized access to education, certification, resources, and networking.
The APICS mission is to build knowledge and skills in operations management professionals to enhance and validate their abilities and accelerate their careers. We help our members and their organizations remain relevant in their profession and build a stronger global economy. APICS achieves this aim through the APICS body of knowledge, which is at the core of all APICS education, certification, and research.
APICS Membership
The APICS community is composed of nearly 40,000 individuals from 15,000 companies worldwide—across nearly all industries. APICS members hold titles from production and inventory manager and supply chain manager to vice president of operations and chief operating officer.
Operations and supply chain management professionals join APICS to profit from the vast educational offerings as well as the knowledge and experiences of thousands of other operations management professionals worldwide.
APICS in the Global Marketplace
APICS education, certification programs, and research initiatives are delivered in the global marketplace through thousands of publications, educational offerings, courses, workshops, online events, and an annual conference.
APICS Certification Programs
APICS currently offers two world-renowned certification programs—the APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) designation and the APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM). The APICS CSCP program prepares individuals to navigate today’s complex supply chains, while meeting customer needs and reducing costs. After more than 35 years in the marketplace, the venerable APICS CPIM program sets the standard of excellence in operations many employers depend on when evaluating candidates. In 2008, APICS discontinued the administration of the APICS Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM) program.
