District Student Case Competition Winners Announced
More than 50 students representing over a dozen colleges and universities participated in this year’s case competitions in the Midwest and on the West and East Coasts.
In the competition, teams of students demonstrate their understanding of APICS tools and methodologies by solving an operations management challenge. The teams present a proposal, which is judged by a panel that determines the winners. The winning teams from each of the district competitions qualify to attend the 2008 APICS International Conference & Expo as a part of the Scholars Education Program and compete in a conference case competition to earn awards, recognition, and visibility with employers attending the conference.
The 13th Annual Great Lakes District Student Case Competition had a record-breaking 22 teams vying for first place. Bowling Green State University received the honor. MBA students from University of Nevada Las Vegas took first place in the West Coast case competition in April, sponsored by the Southwest District of APICS. Winners from the 2007 international case competition were on hand in California to assist with logistics and panel participation.
Once they advance to the 2008 APICS International Conference & Expo, the case competition winners participate in the Scholars Education Program, which invests in the future of APICS and operations and supply chain management by developing student leaders. Last year 90 scholars from 23 colleges and universities attended.
The scholars program relies on the generous support of volunteers and donors to be successful. If you would like to support this program, consider participating as a mentor or making a donation for APICS 2008. You can make a difference in a student’s future career and the profession.
